Adesso Bistro is a restaurant located in the west end of downtown Vancouver. Being me, I am constantly looking out for good deals for restaurants online. I was interested in trying out Adesso because they have very high online ratings. They specialize in modern Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. I love Italian so I was looking forward to this meal. The location of this restaurant is quite hidden near a residential area. As my mom and I were looking for the place, we thought we were going in the wrong direction because we don’t know the area well at all. The restaurant has a very nice patio but we decided to eat in because it was chilly out that day.

After our server took our order, bread was served. It was fresh, soft and fluffy inside.

My mom had the spaghettini di mare, it is a seafood pasta with shrimp, mussel, clams, and squid. She enjoyed it very much, as the pasta was cooked just right and the sauce was very flavourful. I also loved the sauce, this dish looks simple, but it was well prepared.

I asked our server if the lobster risotto was any good and he loves it so I felt confident to order this dish. I was somewhat reserved about ordering risotto because it can be quite tricky to make. This was a lobster risotto with mascarpone and whiskey. I thought the it was very delicious. The rice had a good texture – al dente and creamy. The lobster meat was tender and not over-cooked. The mascarpone added a good richness and flavour. The only thing that I have to complain about it was that it was a little too “boozey” for me, a bit too heavy on the whiskey.

I was very excited for dessert, actually. It was a deep-fried pineapple ravioli served with chocolate sauce, chocolate ice-cream and cocoa nibs. We both thought it was very well prepared, and the flavours were very balanced. The ravioli had a crispy exterior and a soft, aromatic filling. The warm and cold combination made it extra good.
Adesso is definitely a restaurant worth going to, their food was exceptional and prepared with care. The service was good, and the interior is cozy and ambient. Without the coupon though, the prices are high, but I think it is fine for the quality. This would be one of those places on my fine dining list.
Conclusion:
Ambience: 4/5
Food: 4/5
Service: 3.5/5
Value: 3.5/5
